In-Person worship at 10:30 am

by Reverend Mary Lock

Pastor of Toms Brook United Methodist Church

Our In-Person worship service has resumed and we are back inside our building. The service order can be seen during the worship service on the TV screens in the sanctuary. We are not singing yet, but restrictions are being reduced so hopefully it won't be long now!

In order to worship as safely as possible, during the Covid 19 Pandemic, we will need to follow these mandatory requirements from the Virginia United Methodist Conference:

Day of the Service

• Before leaving your home to attend the In-Person worship service, each attendee must:

  1. Take his/her temperature. It must be less than 100.4 degrees Fahrenheit in order to attend worship.
  2. If you are feeling ill, stay home.
  3. Bring with you:

-a face covering (mandatory)

-hand sanitizer (if you feel you need it)

-gloves (if you feel you need them)

See you in Church!

Important Announcement

March 26, 2021

Subject: Important Announcement

I have some deeply concerning and painful news that I must share with you.

Rev. Dr. Stan Thompson, the former pastor at Toms Brook UMC who retired on March 18, 2021, was arrested on March 26, 2021 for aggravated sexual battery of a minor.

If anyone is aware of improper conduct between Dr. Thompson and children, please contact law enforcement immediately.

I will be in regular contact with your new pastor, Mary Lock, who will begin serving Toms Brook UMC on April 1.  I will keep all of you in my prayers and ask that you know God's peace and strength at this difficult time.

Also, I will continue to keep you informed about developments.  Thank you for your attention to this matter.  May God bless you.

In Christ,

Rev. Dr. Victor Gomez
District Superintendent - Harrisonburg District
The Virginia Conference of the United Methodist Church

Rev. Dr. Stan Thompson has retired, effective immediately.  In-person worship will be held Sunday, March 21, 2021 and going forward.  I will keep you informed of related developments, including the appointment of a new pastor, which should occur soon.  May the peace and grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you!
